Performance Season

Holiday Dance Recital
Just two years ago, Sacred Ground Dance was comprised of one teacher and four students. The location was a friend's home. The success of that venture and interest it generated, led the owner, Jen, to create a much larger studio with several teachers, classes and over a hundred students. It obviously has served a vital need in our community and has certainly done so for our family of girls. We love to dance especially to Christmas music. Dessie and Kayla were singing “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” around the house for weeks. I caught Ella practicing her leap combinations in the hallways of our house and she claims she is close to doing the splits! They all performed so well and even Olena got into the spirit of things by “shouting out for joy” whenever the audience clapped. (PS- Olena's hair looks like a bad toupee in this photo, don't you think!)

Our Live Nativity Performers--What an awesome tradition! Our sweet angels and our wisewoman. There was a bit of a debacle about the role of Mary. Ella was originally supposed to play that part, but she was too embarrassed to be paired with Joseph. The idea of being a wise woman was just much more appealing.

Holiday Piano Recital
It’s become an annual tradition to prepare Christmas songs and hold a student-only Christmas group lesson in the house. It’s fun to have Christmas cookies together, play games (name that Christmas tune) and trade in points for prizes. Kayla surprised me by playing her piece “Jolly Old St. Nicholas” by memory! Dessie insisted on participating in the next recital. We are making progress!
