Spring Soccer

If you ask Ella what she likes best between soccer, dance and piano, you would be hard-pressed to get an answer out of her. Her daddy is the soccer coach and she is really quite a star on her team. She has some of her best friends in her dance class right now making it not just a learning experience but a very important social event on her calendar. Finally, her mommy is her piano teacher, where she also performs very well. So I guess we will continue with each of these activities for the time being, although she is one very busy girl!

I noticed a big change occur on the soccer field this year. For one, the girls have had to play more defensively including adding a goalie to the field. They also have learned so many new techniques for passing and they can actually use them under pressure. There are times it can be quite intense. There have even been times where Ella has come off the field crying because a player keeps on tripping her up or leaning into her (she is still getting used to this more aggressive form of play). Mostly, she has experienced a lot of success in kicking her legs into high gear and getting her shots to go into the goal! The girls and I are her biggest fans.

On the family funny side though, any time her "Coach" offers her a piece of advice (ie: Ella, stay in the middle, etc.), she will give her dad the evil eye with her hands on her hips. One time she did it right in front of the parents' stands and boy did she get a laugh. I think it was probably good for her to know that her attitude doesn't go unnoticed. Maybe she will save that evil eye for home and keep it off the field! If looks could kill...
