Ella has a very big birthday coming up. On May 6th, she will turn eight years old--which is a momentous age for our family as we prepare our oldest for her baptism. I am so excited and I wanted it to be very special. Unfortunately, we have a baby due right during her birthday week. Luckily, inspiration struck early enough for us to throw a very special girl's night out early birthday party. She selected a few of her closest friends and we met in our fanciest clothes for dinner out on the town and then a community showing of the musical, "Oliver." We passed out fancy purses and lip gloss as party favors and these girls were quite the ladies all night long. They particularly enjoyed that the part of Oliver was played by a girl. Despite the fact that we didn't get anyone home until past 10:00, they were very engaged in the play. In fact, during the intermission, one of Ella's cute friends observed, "Ack, it's just like a commercial break in the worst possible moment! What is going to happen to Oliver?" I loved their enthusiasm. I would definitely do it again and Ella gave it rave reviews as well. We'll call that a hit!
