Kayla had a dream six-year-old birthday. We had her favorite breakfast: donuts. There was a surprise HUGE Hello Kitty doll from the Rebers that welcomed her first thing that morning. I did not make her practice the piano, or do her reading. I took her a Sonic happy meal for lunch. She got to wear a crown at school and appear on the announcements. Plus she got to open presents and eat cake and ice-cream to her heart's content. What a great day!
Luckily, the end of the day did not bring the end of all of the excitement. Kayla had the good luck, (I say good luck because I nearly ran out of steam to throw a party at all...but that's a side-bar discussion.), of a friend party to look forward to on Saturday. We took advantage of the holiday season and had a Halloween party at our house for all of the kids in Kayla's church class and her soccer team. We ended up with 20 kiddos here! It was so much fun. They decorated chalkboard painted pumpkins with chalk, played "ghost, ghost, goblin," had a picnic dinner, pinata, decorated cupcakes and watched on a projector the Halloween classic: It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! I think my favorite part of watching all of the kiddos mad-dashing it for the pinata candy and laughing at Stephen when he playfully fell trying to catch someone playing "ghost, ghost, goblin!"
Happy Birthday to our sweet and loving Kayla. She is truly a gem.
