Fall Festival

Ella is an excellent little pianist. This year, I entered her into the fall festival through the CMTA, of which I am a member. She prepared her Mozart piece really well and even seemed remarkably self-possessed and calm about the whole thing. And then, tragedy struck. She woke up the morning of the festival feeling very ill and complained of a tummy ache. I had to be at the festival to work a shift, so I was very concerned about bringing her with me and I considered leaving her at home. That is when Stephen stepped in and encouraged Ella to watch the "Michael Jordan flu game." Now, I'm not up on my "noteworthy basketball games of legend" like my husband is...but apparently, Michael Jordan once played an incredible game of ball despite being very ill with the flu. So, in spite of being sick, Stephen encouraged Ella to buck up and perform her best. So, I loaded her in the car, where she threw up five minutes later...

I guess that must have made her feel better for a little bit, because she was determined to still attend the festival and perform. And perform she did! She was so great! I was so proud of her determination, especially considering that she threw up again on the way home. Ah, c'est la vie. I guess my new car hadn't really been christened until it had a little throw up in it.

Anyway, Ella can't wait for the next festival. She's going for the 1+ rating--a pretty difficult feat to achieve!
