Farewell Friend

Ava is one of Ella’s very best friends. Ava's family moved into our ward when Ella was just five years old. They were fast friends, but have become even closer through our babysitting exchanges and sharing a second grade classroom together. We are grateful for her presence in Ella’s life. She is sweet and kind. Sadly, we learned in December that her family is moving to Colorado. Her dad's office closed and offered him a moving package to relocate to the Denver area. It was a blessing for their family. But naturally, we are sad to lose such a great group of friends. It puts Ella to tears sometimes. Luckily, I have assured her that with Facetime, we will never be more than a call away!

Farewell Friend
I helped Ella throw a “Farewell Friend” Pancake PJ Party for Ava before they moved. They had breakfast together and created BFF necklaces. They also signed and decorated pillowcases with sharpies. I had them write out this poem, which I thought was really cute!
ODE TO FRIENDSHIP
When I lay me down to sleep,
I’ll count these names instead of sheep.
And remember all the friends I found
While I lived in Flower Mound.
We followed it up with a movie and as a treat: small boxes of sugar cereal! Gotta love the breakfast theme! The party was poor consolation, but we still had a great time with so many cute girlfriends.
