Kayla was so sad at the end of last year's preschool because her teacher was planning on moving away during the summer. At first, she truly thought this was a temporary thing. She kept on asking me when we could go visit "Mrs. D" and whether or not she would ever be her teacher again. So, I was a little nervous to start a new year, at a new place, with a new teacher. I shouldn't have been nervous--Kayla loves preschool and her new teacher, "Miss Jenn."
Kayla is also receiving help twice a week for speech therapy. And I am happy to report that we are making progress. The first few times were really disheartening for Kayla. I think she was just realizing again and again what she was saying incorrectly. But, after her first victory (she said something that approximates a "k" sound), she perked up and has enjoyed it ever since. Kayla often shuts down when she is discouraged, but she is so easily motivated by even tiny increments of progress. She is so happy now and we are so pleased with her progress. Go Kayla!
