Summer Goals

We always sit down as a family at the beginning of summer and write down a list of goals: family and personal goals. Top on Ella and Kayla's lists this year was swimming lessons. We give Ella an A+ for improvement and overall skill level...we will stay away from letter grades when discussing Kayla. Let's just say, we were happy on the days when she got in the pool without an initial "cry" session. Our thanks go out to the teachers who worked so hard with them both. We just might have to do some remedial swimming lessons in the fall.

Kayla isn't the only one who struggled with summer goals. My number one goal was to catch up on the scrapbooking--which I'm sure will get done eventually (that is...if I ever started on it). I think I'll push the deadline back until December and see if I do any better. Dessie also had a goal on her list: become potty trained. So much for that as a summer goal--I just bought a new package of diapers at Costco!

On the positive side, Ella and I finished reading "James and the Giant Peach" together. I always enjoy that time together. And Kayla knows all of her "Doggy D's" and "Charlie Cat C's" on the piano. Plus, I give the whole family an A+ on all of the "Family Fun" we experienced (See Summer Vacation Post!!).
