I remember very well the day that my mom turned 30-years-old. She was actually pretty depressed about it...and things were not helped by my dad's efforts to welcome her into Club 30. He had ordered a sign with the number 30 large enough to cover our 2-story home. When I got on the bus to go to school that day, the bus driver passed the house and asked: "Who's turning 80?" He he he. That story really didn't make my mom very happy. Furthermore, my dad had sent out letters requesting all of my mom's friends and neighbors to send "over the hill" birthday letters and gifts...and they came. I don't think I realized that my mom had friends until I saw the piles of presents! Now, 20 years later, I'm following in her footsteps. It's September 3, 2011 and I am officially 30! Plus, I have a husband who skillfully created an email account and asked my friends to send letters and cards for the big day. So this is my big thank you to my husband for making my day so memorable. And this is my big thank you to all of my friends, neighbors, and family for helping me easy my way into Club 30. I truly did enjoy spending the week reading all of the thoughtful notes and letters from ya'll (TX lingo). I am very LUCKY and I just wish everyone could have been here to celebrate. Anyway, here are a few pics of the awesome scene out front. We even had some families "mail" baseballs and kickballs. Who knew? I will treasure all of these expressions of love! And as my brother so lovingly pointed out: By the time I get used to 30, I will be 40! And hey, at least nobody thought I was turning 80!!

Pictured Above: Birthday Dinner....couldn't get away without an embarrassing scene! And thank you to my friends in town who set aside time on Labor Day weekend to celebrate with me. I truly am lucky to be surrounding by such wonderful friends!

Glad you had a wonderful birthday. So fun to celebrate with you, too!
I am such a loser! I had every intention of posting a birthday wish to you. I am sorry it didn't happen, but it looks like you had plenty of wishes! Accept my apologies. I'm happy to know you and glad you were born!
