Kayla is becoming known for her cheerful optimism in our family. Here are a couple examples of this spirit in action:
Scene 1: Bedtime
Daddy: I visited Easton and Taylor and they said that they want to marry you.
Kayla: But, I want to marry Austin.
Daddy: But, won't Easton and Taylor be sad?
Kayla: Yes. But, Austin will be so happy.
Scene 2: Yard Work, Dad shoveling dirt outside
Kayla: Daddy, can I use the shovel to take down the house?
Daddy:
Kayla: I want to take the house down with the shovel.
Daddy: You...want to tear down the house down?
Kayla: Yes. I want to take the house down with the shovel.
Daddy: But if you take the house down, we won't have a home any more and Mommy will be really sad. Are you sure you want to do that?
Kayla: Daddy - this is not the only house in whole world. We can get a new one.
Daddy: Weeell - okaaaay.
After spending 20 seconds trying to take the house down
Kayla: I couldn't do it. I need a bigger shovel.
Daddy's surmise: That's my kind of attitude. She focuses not on the impossibility of the task, but on the need for better tools to accomplish it.
We love our Kayla!

She cracks me up!
So fun to catch up on your summer. I'm surprised we didn't cross paths in Utah. We did some of the same activities in July! What fun you all had.
I LOVE this story. I told my husband about the shovel story and he couldn't stop cracking up.

drove through your old neck of the woods (pleasant hill/walnut creek) yesterday. It was chilly. I will send some of it to you in TX!
