Back to School Swap

I recently participated in a blog swap. The theme was "back to school" and we were asked to send 3-5 items that reminded us of the year we graduated from high school to the friend we were assigned. I had a great time pulling together items for my new friend Crystal. You can check out pictures on her blog. Ella and I had a great time opening our package from Debbi. Unfortunately, the camera was packed, so I do not have pictures of this fun occasion, but I do have pictures of us currently enjoying our items. First of all, Debbi's package was wonderful. As soon as I opened it I raced to read her wonderful letter which explained all of her well thought out loot from 1998.

The contents of our package were the following:
1. Notebook/Journal. reminiscent of her decision to go into journalism (very thoughtful since I am an English major and looove notebooks...blank ones are best!)
2. Cookie mix with sprinkles commemorating her high school alma mater colors. (We made and downed these cookies before I could get a picture...meaning, I had to buy another package of cookie mix and do it again, a true bummer!)
3. Sonic gift card. This was an incredibly thoughtful item since Debbi noticed I just moved to Texas where Sonics are plentiful. Plus, my favorite all-time drink is their Strawberry Limeade. I used the gift card before the day was over!
4. Two beanie baby bears from her collection--very hot in 1998 and very hot with my girls (if you can't tell). Ella has been sleeping with her bear of choice since we received our package a week ago. And Kayla was crying in the picture because Ella tried to steal her bear!
5. Two old-fashioned coke bottles to share with our new neighbors along with a quaint story that involves a job, several old women and coke bottles...I'm sure you're hooked. I would tell you more, but Debbi told me she thinks it might make a great novel someday, so I'll let her save that for her future files!

Anyway, you can tell we loved this swap. Thanks Erica for hosting it and thanks Debbi for your thoughtful package. We loved (and continue to love) it!

How fun. I've actually heard of a "favorite things swap". I think it's probably the same thing. It sounds fun. I'd like to do it sometime.
