One of the great joys of my life is watching Dessie. She is such a happy child. She tends to skip or jump or dance whenever she does any activity—from playing soccer to doing her chores. One Saturday a couple weeks ago, Kayla came tearing into the house yelling: “I taught Dessie how to ride her bike.” I’m really not sure what surprised me more—the idea that my 4-year-old was riding a bike solo sans training wheels or that her 7-year-old sister (who had just barely learned herself) had been the tutor. It has been “love on first bike” ever since. She insists on daily bike rides now. I love the joy in her face as she rides and I still can’t believe that I caught it on camera! I just recently registered her for kindergarten (boo). I may actually cry when I have to drop her off at school this August. She has been such a happy and pleasant child to have around—I will miss her!
