The picture might be self-explanatory, but in case you want more details-Ella decided that she wanted to try using Mommy's iron (despite the regular warnings about not touching it). So when I left the room to check out a big bang coming from Kayla's direction, she grabbed the iron, immediately dropped it and the result was a big iron mark in my rug and a small blister on her hand!
I derived three lessons from this experience.
1. Do not iron when kids are awake, especially if your child has her own "toy iron" and feels like the big iron is just a step up.
2. Do not iron on the carpet; you can't leave an iron mark on the tile.
3. Maybe you should just not iron at all...I certainly am considering that path.
Of course, the good news is that now I have an excuse to buy a new rug.

So sorry! Glad that it was only a tiny blister. I must admit that I have opted for choice #3, and so own no clothes that require pressing. Luckily, Rick gets free dry cleaning for his stuff through OSU Hospital.
Have fun rug shopping!
OH my! I think you should opt for number 3 - I try to buy those shirts you don't have to iron for my husband, but then every morning I hear him ironing them himself!? At least I don't have to do it, but I tried!
don't iron at all.
Sorry to hear about the blister and your rug too. You know from my blog how often I iron. And I've been getting teased for it. I love your parenting tips - so real! I'm all for ironing as little as possible. It's "iron in bulk" at our house.
Oh my goodness! I still have a scar on my hand from an iron falling on it when I was just a little older than Ella - I'm so glad hers is just a small blister. I opt for no ironing! That is seriously one of my least favorite chores and I actually rarely do it!! Only when needed - and I guess that could all be relative... ;)
We had an iron incident about 3 years ago and Chase pulled it down on his head...got a pretty nice gash. Luckily it wasnt ON!!! I think that the banning of ALL ironing is the best idea of all! And since we live next door - I probably shouldnt be ironing either...it just wouldnt be right.
Definitely don't iron. This is very good excuse not to.
I think you should persevere and continue ironing. Let's fight through the tough times!

Great tip. I'm tucking away all these lessons you're learning. They're great! Keep it coming!
HAHA that is too funny...crappy for you but very entertaining for me!
Well the things they pull have to be good for something. I might do it myself just so I could get a new rug haha
Iron? What is ironing? Is that some ancient housewife ritual? Seriously, though, sorry about the blister and the rug. My favorite way to "iron" is to put the item to be ironed in the dryer with a damp cloth. It is awesome and avoids that bothersome "have a blister and need a new rug" syndrome.
