After several goodbye parties and teary moments, it was finally time to the final goodbye to the Colton family. We were able to help the family on move out day by watching their kiddos for several hours, but it was really hard on Ella to finally wave goodbye with our white tissues in hand (gotta love that tradition!). Ella spent the next SEVERAL hours crying from time and time. I would call her a bit of a beast that day. Anyway, the following day was fast and testimony meeting and I was a bit surprised to see her stand up to bear her testimony. It was one of the sweetest moments as a mom that I’ve had. She said something like this:
“I’d like to bear my testimony. Yesterday I had an experience that strengthened my testimony. My very best friend moved away and I was very sad. I cried a little-ok—I cried a lot. (tearing up a little at this point) So I went upstairs and said a prayer to Heavenly Father to help me to feel better. I did start feeling a lot better. So I know that Heavenly Father can comfort us when we need Him. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
It truly was a very heartfelt, genuine testimony. I was very touched and teared up myself. Ella has also been comforted to know that Ava’s mom has FaceTime on her phone…they have already spoken twice in a week. I think the friendship will live on!
