Texas Visitors
In honor of Olena's birth and Ella's baptism, we opened our home up to visitors! Diana was the first to arrive!
Dee's 24-Hour Trip!
Diana was enlisted by Doug to fly out and help him prepare to move. After verifying the bus schedule and cost (only eight dollars!), she decided to plan a quick (less than 24 hours) stop by Dallas. We were so happy to have her--She bestowed many kisses and chocolates on all of the girls and got to meet sweet baby Olena! We hope she will stay longer next time!
Grandma was the next to arrive!
She traveled out a few days early for Ella’s approaching baptism. She immediately asked me what needed to be done. During her stay, she made two sets of drapes, fixed a dust ruffle, did all of the mending, helped me throw two parties and then all of our normal out and about stuff. No wonder my neighbors and friends thinks of her as a tornado. She deserves the accolade: Super Grandma!
We did more than just put Grandma to work. The weather had truly been beautiful, sunny without the overbearing heat or humidity of the typical Texas summer, so we planned a trip to the Arboretum with Grandma. The girls were enchanted with all of the spring flowers and with a few gentle (and eventually LOUD) reminders from me, they finally stopped picking the petals off. The Arboretum has a really cool kid’s area that featured a storybook village this spring. The girls were excited to meet Alice in Wonderland. Then we headed through a beautiful “tree lane” to cool off in the water feature. I implored the girls to only get their feet wet…I think the word “soaked” would best describe what each girl looked like five minutes later. Oh well, they reaped the consequences of a chilly ride home.
Konnichiwa Grandpa!
Grandpa surprised the family by arriving on Saturday morning in time for Ella’s baptism that afternoon. We didn’t think he could make it, but he rearranged his schedule because he didn’t want to miss this important event. Naturally, we celebrated his arrival with kid’s meals and ice-cream at Chik-Fil-A! Grandpa also got to hold baby Olena for the first time. Love was evident and the feeling was mutual!
