San Antonio or Bust!

We really enjoyed our Christmas break away from our regular routine. My sister Diana joined us after Christmas for a week (Hooray) and we met my brother Doug and his family in San Antonio (our first time) to celebrate New Years. Other than Kayla being sick for a good chunk of the trip with a fever, we had a wonderful time. We visited the Natural Bridge Caverns, an old-timey Texas bbq and dance hot spot, the outlets, the San Antonio temple, the Japanese Tea Gardens, Brackenridge Park, the Eagle Train Ride, the Riverwalk, including a boat tour and let's never forget, the Alamo. I think our highlight was the riverboat ride—especially because they had the whole Riverwalk lit up for the holiday season. I also loved our New Years Eve dinner at a little Italian restaurant a few blocks away from the Riverwalk area that served authentic Italian food. It was delicious!

Once again, it was hard to wish everyone goodbye. Ella was very concerned when she learned that the Lewis family will be moving this summer for Doug's residency. I think she believed that she might never see Callin & Rhett again. I promised her that wasn't the case. Although, we will truly miss having them so close! She also cried and cried when we dropped Diana off at the airport. Poor Ella.

Diana was great to have around--the girls fell in love and they miss her dreadfully. For instance, they all had a manicure and pedicure done compliments of Aunt Dee. After Diana had left, Dessie noticed that her polish was coming off. She turned to me and said: "Look, Aunt Diana needs to come back and fix my finger." Diana, we'd love to have you back anytime!
