Christmas Eve 2012

There is so much anticipation on Christmas Eve--it is practically palpable. Plus, it may be the only day of the year where the kids rush to get to bed so that Santa will come. We enjoyed family time by dining out (less clean-up) together, playing our traditional Christmas bells, opening our Christmas Eve pjs, enjoying hot chocolate and leaving food for Santa and the reindeer. We whisked the kids to bed with a favorite rendition of "The Night Before Christmas" and then the work really began. For instance, Christmas Eve was a relatively clear day, but that night the snow began. Apparently our elf Holly was outside to experience it because Santa left us this note.

Dear Reber Girls,

I have received very good reports about each of you from Holly. She says that you are kind, loving and helpful and I’ve seen for myself that she is right—you are all on the nice list! Please continue to set such a good example to all of the children around you. I hope you enjoy the presents I left for you. Holly assures me that you deserve them all! I know your mom doesn’t want snow, but I hope you also receive that white Christmas you have been dreaming of this year! Thank you for the treats—my belly is shaking like a bowl full of jelly. The reindeer loved the carrots and food on the lawn—Rudolph was especially fond of the carrots. You are all so thoughtful. Holly has hung her new stocking on her bunk bed at the North Pole. I know she will treasure it as I treasure each of you.

Love,
Santa

PS- I hope you will enjoy the surprise present (a trampoline) from me—you were all just SOOOO good this year!
PPS- It is because "Holly" is one of my best elves that we were able to set up the trampoline so quickly. She is friends with Jack and Skippy Jiff and she called them over to help with the work load.
