If you give Lauren a new wall...

Have you read the book, "If you give a mouse a cookie?" If you haven't, you should. It depicts the possible delightful scenarios of a mouse who starts with asking for a cookie and ends up creating an impossible mess! The truth is, that book reminds me of me. So, this year I got it in my head that my house would serve my needs much better if I could build a wall to separate my two living spaces downstairs. I could then have a toy room off of the kitchen and a closed-in music room/living room area. Well, once I got that into my head, I could not rest until it happened.

I love these new spaces. And I should point out my favorite feature of the new toy room. While I was looking around at thrift stores for an armoire to hold toys and dress-up clothes (after having scoured Ikea and other retail markets), I saw "IT" for $40! The workers at Good Will had christened IT "the big blue thing" and could NOT believe somebody had finally purchased it. I think they just lacked vision. Don't you think several coats of paint really change everything!

So awesome right! Well, here's the thing. I used to have a toy room upstairs. So, when the toy room moved downstairs that meant I obviously MUST paint the old bright green toy room something else and make it a combo guest room/den. And while I was at it, I really should repaint the old nursery and make it the girl's room because it is the biggest and I really should move Dessie in with Kayla and Ella, because I really needed to free up the space for a nursery and yes, I am expecting baby #4 (Hooray--due May 10th). And obviously, since I was doing all of this moving and painting, I really should just paint all of the trim in the house too. WOW! I am so tired and I am NEVER painting trim again BTW. Anyway, I feel like "the girl who wanted a wall...and it escalated into the remodel." I hope you enjoy the pictures of all of our new spaces. I just need my mom to come through town to help with some curtains :)

Look at you go, Lauren!! The rooms look great (all of them!) And I'm sure you've heard it a thousand times, but I have no idea how you do it! Good work!
