Beat'Em Stephen
We hosted our third annual Beat'Em Stephen race and this year we really stepped it up! I printed T-shirts for the winners of the 5K and buttons for all of the participants. We even had a sponsor--one youth in our ward has a cake decorating business and he brought samples and business cards! I was so proud of Ella who ran the entire mile long and came in at 10 minutes. I think it helped that she was running alongside a friend this year. Kayla and Dessie helped me run the finish line and made sure we had enough donuts and muffins for everyone. Stephen came in third place and we gave our first and second place victors the coveted joy of owning their very own "Beat'Em Stephen" T-shirts. These are very exclusive items, naturally!
Because we ran the family fun run and the 5K at the same time, all of the kids came through the finish line before the 5K racers were done. My favorite part of the day was when one 5-year-old racer believed that: "I beat the Steve!" We had great weather and a ton of friends out for the event! Our only downer of the whole day was that my 5-gallon jug filled with chocolate milk completely emptied out in the car! What a mess--that's definitely a story with lingering consequences to this day!
