What a great blessing that my family was able to find some great rates on flights so that they could join us for Thanksgiving week. The week before, my mom had sent my girls a letter with "grandpons." (Grandpons: coupons for a date with grandpa and grandma of your choice--$10 value.) It was probably very smart of my mom to put a limit on that coupon or she might have had to take Ella to Six Flags for a day! Instead, Kayla and Ella chose to go to Chuck E. Cheese and Dessie chose to go to McDonalds.
The family flew in to Dallas area, but then we drove to Pearland to spend a few days with my brother and his family. Annie did a fabulous job putting together a beautiful dinner! When I asked my kiddos what they were thankful for that day, they responded:
Ella: Cousins!
Kayla: Grandpa and Grandma!
Dessie: Ice-cream!
We were able to enjoy a few fun activities as a family too. BLACK FRIDAY--or is it Thursday now? (I waited in the crazy Wal-Mart and got my ticket for a trampoline--so excited! Shhh....that's on the downlow!) We went bowling and to the movie Wreck-it Ralph--Ella said those moments were the highlights of the trip. One family funny: Kayla cried every time she bowled because she didn't knock down ALL of the pins at once. Dessie cheered EVERY time she bowled regardless of if she hit a single pin or not. There's a lesson in personality for you.
We headed back to our home for the remainder of the Thanksgiving weekend with my fam. We were able to celebrate Kelvin's 15th birthday and Ella put together a program for a family piano recital. We LOVE our family and were so happy that they chose to join us for a Texas Thanksgiving this year :)
