Isn't she adorable!! Our Kayla is a cute, spunky kid. So, I was really surprised at a conversation we had together recently. To set the stage, Kayla had just gotten in trouble for provoking her sister and was sent to time-out. When she emerged, she was still crying.
Kayla: But, Mom I thought you didn't love me anymore.
Mom: Kayla, I will always love you. You are my Kayla.
Kayla: But, I thought you didn't love me.
Mom: Sometimes I get mad, but that doesn't mean that I don't still love you. I will always love you.
Kayla: But, will you still love me even if I cut off someone's head.
Mom: Uhhh...[long pause] Of course, Kayla, I will always love you...I hope you aren't planning on cutting off anyone's head.
Kayla: But, would you still love me even if I did cut off someone's head.
Mom:....[pause], Yes, of course Kayla. I will always love you. Just promise me that you won't cut off anyone's head.
I'll tell you that conversation puzzled me for a while. And then Aunt Diana visited us for a week and on Sunday the kids watched the scripture movie about Nephi...several times. I reviewed the Nephi story and I think I now know where this conversation might have originated...at least, we hope!
