Show and Tell

Stephen's been out of town--TRANSLATION--Lauren has been busy!! I LOVE to stay up late and get stuff done or read a really good book, but I also like to try to keep Stephen's (much earlier) schedule when he's home, so I took advantage of some extra nightowl hours this week to get a couple projects done. (By the way, just so I tone down my excitement here: I do not prefer for my husband to be out of town. I just like to find the good in every situation.)

Project 1. I've been crushing on THIS item from Red Envelope. But, when I saw the price tag ($98), I thought "ouch, I could do the same thing for MUCH less." (My mom would be VERY proud to hear that coming from my mouth.)

So here's my version.

Frames at $4.98 (Target clearance-awesome eh!)
Ivory Backing Poster at $1.38
3 colors assorted 12x12 paper, glue, black pen (negligible)
I LOVED looking at our family genealogy books and putting this together.

Project 2. Organize my sticker pile into this WONDERFUL 14x14 scrapbook organizer. Finally, those really BIG stickers or 12 inch border stickers fit somewhere. I LOVE it.

Project 3. Scour thrift stores and find funky scrap material and ribbon. Makeover Kayla's lamps. Cute, eh!!

I know that Ella and Kayla are the stars of this blog, but every now and again it's nice to do show and tell on the fun stuff I sneak in time for! And after all those late nights, I am tired and ready to get back on Stephen's old man schedule :)
PS- Stephen, when you come home, don't freak out that I've moved the furniture around (a lot :) ) I did not hurt my back this time moving the heavy stuff :)

Wow!! You are the one with GOOD eye. You did a really great job!! It's inspiring to see what other people come up with. Doesn't organization make you so happy. I tell Brock "it warms my heart" that's the feeling I had when I saw your sticker collection..all those tabs and labels...I could hardly contain myself :)

Way to use those late nights for some great projects. I tend to do the same thing when Ben travels. Isn't it great to get all your stickers organized. I worked on mine a few months back too. It's easier to find the ones you want. Oh, I love that family tree too. You are so creative and talented! Keep up the great work.

I love that family tree idea, I might have to attempt it sometime myself! I love it! I have had A Good Earth on my list for a while, I might have to get it next time I'm at the library. I decided to start Harry Potter over again this weekend - so I think that will keep me busy for a while.

Gosh you are so me! :) You need to invite me over on those moving furniture around nights - that is my favorite thing to do in the WORLD! :) I love all your fun stuff! Great work!

Lauren, this post absolutely makes me miss you! I love that you have projects, that you get tons done when Stephen is gone and that you love to move your furniture around and do things yourself for much less money - they are all so you!! And I love them, you are so funny. Your PS to Stephen about the furniture had me laughing so hard. I love your family trees, they turned out so cute and I get so much done when Christian's working really late or is out of town as well. Not that I want him gone, I just make the most of the situation :) Here's to the silver lining! :)

And I am still absolutely up for our 5 year birthday Disneyland bash for Kayla and Katie - how fun would that be? Now that we've been I want to go back all the time!!! :) Seriously, our girls would love doing it together so much, and we would love it too!

You're amazing...I'd say that I wish I had the time but, the truth is...I wish I could use the time I have to be more creative and organized. One day I hope to be half the mom/homemaker/organizer that you are...

Look at YOU! I'm very impressed, and I LOVE your little family tree! I tend to be a busy night owl myself when Layne is gone. I may have to try the little family tree thing myself!
