Happy Birthday Kayla!
Color Me Kayla
For Kayla's birthday and in honor of the Monday we have off for Columbus day, I took her to 'Color Me Mine' with her three best friends, Melody, Macee and Jessica. She was soooo excited. She asked me every day in October, "How many days is it until my birthday party?" Next year, I think I may just tell her about her party the night before. We kicked off the event at home with sharpies and mini pumpkins. Then we headed to Color Me Mine where I let each girl choose her own item. The store had a special going on for Columbus Day so the fee for the paints was waived—bonus party money! The girls had a great time decorating their items. Macee chose a Santa soap dish; Kayla chose an angel bank, Melody chose a bowl and Jessica decorated a mug. We left the items to be baked at a later time (hooray for an easy party favor) and then we went to Sonic to eat Kayla’s cake and enjoy a favorite treat. Everyone ordered shakes or creamslushes. She was thrilled with the presents she opened. It was clear that her friends were aware of her Hello Kitty fetish.
Kayla Turns Seven
Kayla has always been an easily contented child. I have never put a lot of effort into decorating for her family birthday party because she has never required it. But on her birthday this year, she came down the stairs and asked me, “Where are the balloons?” I suppose I often put up balloons in May because we have a double (now triple) birthday. Well, the birthday girl can make any reasonable request and get a “yes.” So Dessie and I had to run to the store to grab some Halloween colored balloons (two birds, one stone) and spent the morning dressing the place up. Kayla is very into art and Hello Kitty this year so many of her gifts were in that vein. She was thrilled! Our little Kayla really is getting older. Just this month I videotaped her jumping rope and hula hooping! What will she do next?
