General Conference
General Conference is both a wonderful and a difficult weekend for our family. We love the words that we hear and the spirit that we feel, but it can be a very long time for the kiddos and they often get distracted by pillows, blankets and the idea of a huge fort. In order to make the experience a little better this year, we purchased a roku which allows us to watch the sessions on TV through the Mormon Channel app. We then pulled in our extra couch in the garage and beanbags for comfortable seating. At one point, Dessie was jumping on the couch. I asked her to stop and she said: “It wasn’t me; it was my legs.” Oh well, even our best efforts find us struggling to be obedient! We invited the Swartz family to join us for the Sunday afternoon session and we tried to set up some listening activities to help us feel the spirit. I think the coloring books and starbursts for the word “prophet” worked moderately well. We definitely gave the Swartz family a taste of a Reber Family Conference experience!
