Primary Service Projects

In the month of September, the primary encouraged each class to do an act of service together. Ella’s class put together a quilt that featured their favorite scriptures and a self-portrait of each class member. Kayla’s class wrote letters to the missionaries serving in our ward. Dessie’s class visited an elderly sister in our ward and sang the song, “I Am a Child of God,” to cheer her up after surgery. Each of our girls was lucky to have this experience. They are richly blessed with great primary teachers and wonderful friends to help them increase their testimony and love of the gospel.

Speaking of church service, so much can happen in just one month! Stephen received a call from the stake executive clerk and immediately started making predictions. He thought it might mean he was being released from the bishopric, but he was hoping to be wrong. He wanted to continue to serve. Well, he was right and wrong. He was released as the second counselor in the bishopric and then made the first counselor.  He was given a genuinely beautiful blessing at his setting apart.  We were happy to hear that our family will be blessed spiritually and temporally as well.  Sometimes our biggest worries are no more than a fear that we won't have enough money for colleges, weddings (all girls--yikes) and missions.  This blessing held the grain of a promise that we will be given what we require.
