Happy Day!

I teach piano to a boy named Dane. Well his mother Mary just happens to have gone to the same high school as my good friend who does joint piano recitals with me. They ended up reconnecting at one of our piano recitals. Anyway, long story short, my friend invited Mary to a YW activity where they set up a youth panel designed to answer questions about the Mormon religion. She was so interested that she agreed to read the Book of Mormon. That invitation really planted the first seed. In May when I was asked to feed the missionaries, I invited their family to join us. (Side note: In our stake, the missionaries are supposed to eat dinner at member’s homes at 5:00. I was assigned to feed the missionaries on a weekday and I knew it would be absolutely impossible for Stephen to arrive home on time. That put me in a pickle. So, I found the loophole. If you invite a nonmember to the dinner party, the time can be adjusted to whenever you want. I called Mary and made the appointment for 6:00. Done!) Mary, and her husband Noah all seem genuinely interested in the gospel and very inquisitive. We invited their family to Ella's baptism and for dinner afterwards too. While I was on vacation, they accepted the invitation to receive the discussions and Stephen attended most of them. They are very attracted to our religion for the commitment we have for family. I think it has fulfilled a need. In August after they had received all of the missionary lessons, they were invited to be baptized and they accepted! We are very grateful to be so closely connected with this conversion experience. They have all mentioned that in coming to our home for piano lessons, they felt a very strong feeling of peace. It could not have been in the “volume” of our home, but we believe our home is a place where the spirit resides. We were happy they testified that they felt its presence here. And we were so happy to help them on their pathway to baptism. It makes us all the more eager to continue being better member missionaries.
