Girls Club

I Heart Girls Club!
We are truly enjoying our last few days of vacation before school starts up again. We hosted two weeks in a row of Ella’s Girl’s Club—a group of about 12 girls that are Ella's age who meet for a few hours at someone's home to learn a skill or make a craft and then play together. For the first week, we invited the girls to come in pajamas and bring pillows and books for a read-a-thon. We also made ‘bookmarks a la LaCinda’ with the plastic cross-stitching material, needle and yarn. The girls had a very difficult time threading their needles, so I did wish we had chosen something a little easier. It was tricky to nurse Olena and help tie knots or rethread needles at the same time. For our second week we had a "game day." I taught the kiddos upjinks, which they enjoyed and then we learned how to play kickball, which they did not enjoy as much. I don't know why, but they don't teach kickball in the schools anymore! Crazy!
