I attended Ella's first grade awards ceremony where she identified her proudest moment as "reading 20 Boxcar Children books." She has really blossomed into quite the reader this year. I love watching her disappear into her room for hours at a time to devour another great book. She was pretty intense about trying to win the all-star reading award and was pleased to come home with second prize and the award of a canvas bag--for holding library books of course! She also came home with some really great artwork. I've watched her brainstorm an idea and spend hours creating with glue, paper, scissors, crayons and tape. Just yesterday she said, "I'm bored." So I handed her a couple of pieces of paper and told her to get to work (so I might have said, "Find something to do or I can make you a list of chores...") and she created a 3D rainbow village. She's got drive!
