Spring break wasn't just full of fun adventures, we also went to work teaching Miss Kayla what it means to be a big girl. With a completely clear piano schedule, and a baby on the way, it just seemed like good timing. Well, Kayla surprised all of us by being a very easy student. We taught her how the potty works with our "Potty Monkey" who Kayla calls, "Ooh-ooh, ahh-ahh." She had so much fun teaching "Ooh-ooh, ahh-ahh" potty etiquette that very quickly she was saying, "ooh-ooh, ahh-ahh poo--poo out." So, while Kayla is still working on making a correct complete sentence, she knows just what to do when it comes to using the potty. And as long as I'm good about reminding her to go, she is fabulous. On my best days we only had one accident. I've barely had to use my carpet cleaner this round!! (Still have it ready to go though!) I even catch her using the potty all by herself sometimes. After she filled her first chart up with stickers, we rewarded her with a plastic tea set and decided to move her into her big girl bed in Ella's room (which is a whole other story). Poor Ella is the only one in this story that has been suffering. She is always begging for potty treats and has been trying to heist Kayla's new tea set from her. What do the rest of you do for the "older sister of the girl who is being potty-trained," if anything?

That is so exciting that she is potty trained! I am very jealous. I will have to have you teach me your techniques when I get brave enough to try again.
If the situation were me, I probably wouldn't give anything to the older sibling, I think it is good for them to learn that they can't always have something they want and that sometimes their siblings get things they don't and that it is the potty trainee's time to shine! However, if one of my kids really helped the younger one learn and remember to go...then I think I would get them something. Just my two cents... see you tonight...
Potty trained and big girl transitioned all in a week! I am seriously impressed! She looks to proud of herself laying in her new bed!
Hooray for Kayla! Katie really wants to be potty trained, but I am not ready! Poor girl. I also need to move her out of the crib one of these days so I can have it for this new little man. Kayla looks so cute in her big girl bed! So are her and Ella sharing a room now? How is that going?
So I totally agree with Jo on the sibling jealousy thing. I feel like Katie gets left out of things all the time just because she's younger and isn't at that stage yet. I love when she gets her own special time to shine, and so does she. Anna does not, but we're working on her helping us to make it special for Katie and she usually likes that. It is really hard to learn that you don't always get your way, though! I still have a hard time with that! ;)
Congratulations! That truly is an amazing feeling to have your daughter want to go potty by herself! I was glad when Linds did it herself too!
Miss you! Love ya!
