I was very worried last year when Kayla’s preschool teacher moved away. So I felt very lucky when I found a sister in an adjoining ward who has been doing preschool in her home for the past twenty years. Plus, she agreed to take Dessie only once a week for a discount since she was already signed up for dance on Thursdays with Allie at sacred ground dance. Dessie has blossomed under Miss Michelle’s care. She has grown to love show-n-tell, the treasure box, centers, her preschool friends, songs, letters and counting. I am grateful she has been able to still have this experience while remaining at home for most of the time. I’ve come to realize how precious this time is before a child’s formal schooling starts. Dessie was happy to end her year with an outside water party. She was thrilled when the class dug for treasures in the sandbox. Luckily, we hosed her off before heading home. I don’t know how she will bear waiting until September to start preschool again!
