Flower Mound is crazy far away! We got into the van (poor van by this point is quite tired I think) right after church (sadly the farewell began at 1:30 pm) and did not arrive in Albuquerque until 1:00 in the morning. Dessie was exhausted and kept on complaining that she could not get comfortable enough to sleep! Because of our late night, we didn't leave New Mexico until 9:00 am. With a late start in the day, we only had time for one little sightseeing adventure. Check us out at the “Cadillac Ranch” in Amarillo, Texas. That’s right, some crazy millionaire decided to plant his Cadillacs in the ground and let people come spray paint them. We painted our names all over the cars as you can see. What can I say—only in Texas! Texas is so big that even with a half day’s drive, we still did not get home to Flower Mound until 10:30 of Day 2. WOW! It took me several days to recover.
Anyway, we are happy to be back at home. It was rough for me to be on the road for so long with a new baby and I am anxious to be back on a routine and send the girlies to school. It is so much harder to do the simple things like run to the grocery store. I can’t wait until Ella is babysitting age! Actually, I probably can. They do seem to be growing up so fast. And in fact, this was my hardest trip with Ella. She has learned the word, “why” and overuses it WAY TOO MUCH! She does so much better when doing things is just part of her routine. I hope she will learn that being helpful is more than just doing the things you are expected to do, it is about “EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS,” and doing it with a smile
