Brianhead

The day after Dallen returned, the five siblings and their families all headed up to the cabin for a reunion. (Sidebar: There was a crazy scare with the cabin this past winter. Apparently, the baby crib was moved in the downstairs room too close to the heater. Then the heater was left on for too long. It started a fire, which somehow miraculously only burned up that one room! I truly don’t understand the physics of it all. I think God’s foot must have stamped it out as a blessing for all of the missionary service. At least, I choose to see it that way!) The kids went fishing and rode the ranger and the four-wheelers. We climbed the obstacle wall as a family and had the kids complete the obstacle course. We all took turns preparing a meal and snack. Stephen turned out to be “Mr. Outdoor Man,” performing the duties of chopping wood, cooking dutch oven style and making fires. He even had the scruff and flannel to look the part. Naturally, many card games were played and all of the kids and adults stayed up way past any reasonable hour. The siblings shared their embarrassing moments that kept everybody laughing into the wee hours. I know that it was really hard for Stephanie and Keith to be away during this great family gathering and momentous occasion of Dallen’s successful return from a mission. But, I was so impressed with how well our families pulled together. I think it is another blessing of their missionary service. After a few days at the cabin, we made it back on Saturday night and our family prepared to leave after the homecoming on Sunday.
