Christmas Traditions!

Traditions definitely keep our family close. As my kids get older, they become more and more involved in insisting that we keep these traditions too. And it seems like we add to the list each year--it can be a lot of work! But, as I asked each of my kids what they liked best about Christmas this year, I decided that it's worth the effort. These traditions demand that we spend time together and that is worth every second. Here is our list of favorite holiday moments:

(in no particular order)
1. advent calendars with chocolate and scripture verses shared by family members
2. dressing up as people in the nativity story and caroling
3. visiting a live nativity
4. school parties
5. making gingerbread (OK, graham cracker) houses
6. going out to eat as a family (Babes for the first time--yum)
7. Seeing the lights at Frisco Square set to music
8. going to a movie as a family (Arthur's Christmas)
9. baking sugar cookies and delivering them (usually takes us a full day!)
10. Collecting seashells at Grapevine Lake
11. Watching Scrooge
12. Christmas Eve dinner with the Raes
13. Party poppers and holiday hats
14. leaving reindeer food on the lawn and cookies for Santa
15. ringing our bells and singing Christmas songs
16. Opening our new pjs Christmas eve and hurrying to bed
17. decorating the trees (Ella & Kayla)
18. taking off the decorations for the trees (Dessie)
19. watching all of the Christmas specials on hulu together
20. calling Uncle Dallen on his mission
