Stephen's dad was recently called to serve as the Mission President and his mom was called to serve as his companion for the Cuiaba, Brazil mission. We were delighted with this calling and happy to support Stephen's parents as they work with the missionaries in Brazil for the next three years. We will miss them a lot, but we have already seen our family blessed by the example they've set of commitment and faith.
Stephen and Ella were able to meet them in Salt Lake City for their setting apart performed by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland and Elder Jay E. Jensen. Ella noted, "It was a very special day." Stephen assures me that she recognized the significance of the occasion because she was very reverent and respectful (not always her forte). I am so glad that they were able to share that experience with the family all around them.
Stephen was also thrilled to take Ella on an early-morning hike up to the Y. She was happy to accomplish another one of her summer goals, but did note that it was harder than she thought it would be. We are just glad she is learning that she can do hard things!
