A Search for Reverence

I thought you all might appreciate a couple of sacrament incidents that we had here recently. Keep in mind that we have been trying over the course of the year to improve our sacrament meeting reverence and have held several FHE reverence seminars on proper behavior. Nevertheless, one Sunday a couple of weeks ago, I was filling in on the organ that day and was sitting on the stand while the bread was being passed. The room was pretty quiet, so Ella could be heard from about ten rows back say loudly: "Kayla's not wearing any underwear." That's right. She made it to church panty-less and was proceeding to flash the bishopric and half the congregation while her sister announced it loudly. Sigh. I had to put her in one of Dessie's diapers for the rest of the day.

The following week, we had another incident during the sacrament. As you may know, Kayla often pretends to be a "doggie" (or a "baby talking doggie"). I generally encourage this type of behavior as she is usually more obedient (and quiet) as a doggie. In any case, she was pretending to be a doggie during sacrament meeting and as we were passing down the bread tray, Kayla dipped her head down, with her tongue out, and licked up a bunch of pieces, because "That's how doggies eat, Mommy."

So there you have it--a year of reverence training and it looks like we're going to have to rethink our training process!

So funny! Those are some great stories. Children do keep us humble - and in our place!

Yesterday we lost a pb&j. Today when I was making grilled cheese sandwiches, KT found the sandwich in the margarine container. Daniel put it there, I found out. Gotta love these little munchkins!

Oh my word!!! I am so sorry! But at the same time it gave us a good laugh here!!! We have had a few years of reverence training!! As a result of "non reverence" our kids are given "couch time" after church, in their Sunday clothes, until I give the okay to be done. Good luck! I know it just comes with time!!!

Love ya!

Hahaha! I know you were probably mortified, but those are some fantastic stories! Especially to remind your girls of when they're older :) I love it. We struggle with reverence training over here too - you are not alone. And our new ward is SO QUIET. Not so good news for us ;)

you can always count on your family to provide some good comedy! thanks so much for the movie. We had a fun fhe watching it. That alone will take you to the celestial kingdom. Can you stop being SUCH a PERFECT mom! No don't stop, it is great to have some inspiration. This week I printed off over 600 pictures. I haven't scrapbooked at all since Cal was born...I have some serious catching up to do and I am doing it very simple- kind of LaCinda style!

Those are laugh out loud stories! I love it. I share the flashing the bishopric story with Kayla. Don't worry there is hope, it has never happened to me again. Thanks for calling me today! I ran out of time today, but I can't wait to catch up!
